Beautifully located, with hiking trails around the house. Due to the pandemic, I am unfortunately unable to give a review of the hotel, restaurant and café, as everything was closed. Unfortunately.

We were there in 2019 and it was beautiful. The food was great and we slept very well

The Best in the World !

This year we ate game from the Rhön for the first time and it was delicious. I can only warmly recommend the roast venison. Great location! Great food!

Food is very tasty and plentiful. Service courteous and warm. The atmosphere in the evening through the kerosene lighting was wonderful. Rooms are simple but sufficient for hiking accommodation.

Great location. We were there today for a stopover during our MTB tour. Was tasty and cheap. The highlight was the two waitresses - super nice! You feel at home as a guest - clear recommendation ?

As a hiker after 20 km you don't even get a coffee at 11.30 a.m. The sign outside said "fully booked until 2 p.m.". No coffee, no water ..... Just amazing ...... It was very disappointing. Absolutely not hospitable ..... Addendum: It was about a cup of coffee on the deserted terrace - we didn't dare to ask for food ... After this experience I will certainly not reserve a table there. We prefer to go where an unregistered hiker has a chance .....

The location is incredibly romantic, the staff very friendly and the simple rooms are clean. The food is simple and good. There is a smell of old gastronomy in the entire house that many do not notice, but which bothers me. It would be possible to deduct a point from the entire ensemble.

After several visits to the restaurant, I get 4 stars. The food is mostly great, but unfortunately not always. Especially with the Wiener Art schnitzel, the breading was too dry and I recommend increasing the price of this dish by 1 or 2 euros and saving less on the quality of the meat. We have always been satisfied with the service so far. Last time - it was a very hot day, the cleanliness left a lot to be desired.

The Holzberghof hunting lodge is an ideal starting point for circular hike No. 4. We started the loop above the hunting lodge to the right. We were rewarded with wonderful views. The transmission masts of Heidelstein and Kreuzberg offer good orientation. The view over the country is unique. Via the nature reserve Lange Rhön it went to the Rothsee with its fisherman's hut. A small snack is recommended before the ascent leads back to the hunting lodge via the quaint Teufelsmuehle, which is well worth seeing. A visit to the restaurant, whether indoors or outdoors, offers the guest a very tasty meal. We would love to come back, also because we were received in a very friendly manner.

Very quaint and cozy dining room. However, you should definitely reserve. Especially in the afternoon it gets quite crowded here. The waitresses are friendly and dedicated. Enjoyed my visit very much.

Very good food. Perfectly seasoned schnitzel and crispy fries. The meal was ready quickly. You can walk there through the forest but you can also drive and park your car right in front. I can only recommend.

After ordering the food came pretty fast. Not even 10 min. But should have been a bit warmer. Quality and taste was good. Ambience also nice with great views.

Whoever makes it here, gets game from local hunting commanded. The restaurant can be reached by car or on foot via the Teufelsmühle. The interior is quaint, on the tables are oil lamps, which spreads a very pleasant atmosphere. There is also a small outdoor area. The food is very good and only to be recommended, I had the venison with red cabbage and dumplings.

Beautiful place, quiet small and busy and the weekends and holidays. Book a table in advance if possible. A bit loud but good atmosphere and the food is good as well. Good game.
